What is the purpose of prophecy? What do we need to know now?
How do we prove prophecy? Is knowledge of prophecy required for
Salvation?
We can all admit it, prophecy is a fascinating subject. Most
members in the congregation love to study it, read about it, talk and
speculate about it. There is nothing wrong with any of those
things. We just don't want our interest in prophecy to result in
our neglecting the elements of the Salvation Process. Right now,
let us answer the four questions above.
Is knowledge of prophecy
required for Salvation?
Answer: No, it is not. Prophecy, in and of itself is not a
Salvation-related subject.
What is the purpose of prophecy?
The primary purpose of prophecy is to give the Body of Christ a heads up
about what is going to happen, lest we be shocked and made afraid.
Imagine the prophecies about the Two Witnesses or the Abomination of
Desolation not being recorded in the Bible. When the abomination
takes place or when the Two Witnesses begin to do their work, we would
be totally perplexed and confused. End time prophecy also serves
as a countdown clock to the end of the age.
What do we need to know about prophecy
now?
Clearly we need to know that Christ is returning. One could call
this the one salvation prophecy as the whole plan of God is dependent
upon the return of Christ and the resurrection of the firstfruits. We
know that the Mark of the Beast is Sunday. We clearly understand
there are two key prophecies that usher in the Great Tribulation.
Those are the aforementioned Abomination of Desolation and armies
surrounding Jerusalem. We have a general outline of some of the
greater events leading up to the Great Tribulation. Once this
begins, we all know the timeline. Three and one-half years of
tribulation, the heavenly signs, the seven last plagues and Christ
returns.
How do we prove prophecy?
We wait for it to take place. Prophecy was designed to make sense
and to prove itself AS IT HAPPENS. Read our booklet, "Can You
Understand Bible Prophecy?
