Member and Minister Disagreements    Audio   MP3   Download

Is it okay for a member to disagree with a minister on certain subjects or with something he may have said in a sermon or Bible study?  Answer:  Yes it is.  The caveat to this affirmative answer is, "...on non-salvation subjects."  Members may feel fine with any disagreements they might have on anything preached or discussed under the heading on "Non-Salvation".   In the course of a minister's preaching or in general discussion a minister may utter statements in any of these general areas:

Subjects:
1) Salvation.
2) Non-salvation.
3) Secular.
4) Speculation about prophecy.
5) Political stands or opinions.

If you have a disagreement with any item in subject areas 2-5, do not be overly concerned.  It is Salvation subjects and doctrines that define us and bind us together as a church. When the Bible says in Amos 3:3, "Can two walk together lest they be agreed" or 2 Cor. 6:14-16, "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers." it is speaking of the Salvation Process and, therefore, all salvation-related subjects.  It is not talking about differences in politics, hobbies, sports or what we think about prophecy.

There is no need to speak among the brethren of any disagreements you might have.  There is also no need to speak of these kind of disagreements with the minister in question unless you feel it important.  Continue to seek for those things that make for peace.
