Sermon: First Day...a
sermon for Trumpets
by Chris Cumming
Today is the Day of Trumpets

MP3-2017
I want to begin by reading from our doctrine on the Annual Holy Days
under the heading, "Spiritual Meaning."
Feast of Trumpets: Trumpets were
an instrument often used to sound the alarm for war. They were also the
instrument of the watchman to arouse the sleeping populace if danger
threatened. This festival represents the preaching of the gospel to the
world by God's faithful watchmen who have the responsibility of arousing
the people from their spiritual slumber (Ezek. 33:1-16). At this point,
God has ceased to let mankind go his own way. The time has come to save
not just a few in His Church, but all peoples—to save man from himself.
Otherwise, man would succeed in destroying himself.
The Day of Trumpets also
symbolizes the resurrection of all who died in Christ and the change of
all who will be living in Christ. This stunning event—the achievement of
eternal life for millions through birth into the Family of God—will
occur simultaneously with the return of Jesus Christ at the last trump.
"In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the
trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we
shall be changed" (1 Cor. 15:52).
Jewish tradition adds some interesting
parallels. For example, the Day of Trumpets (Rosh Hashanah) is said to
picture the most important judgment time, when the inhabitants of the
world shall be judged by the Creator. Furthermore, Tishri I was
considered by some Jewish commentators to be the beginning of
Creation—which would create a complete parallelism, since this shall be
fulfilled by the "Day of the Lord," the time of the Creator's physical
return to His creation as Jesus Christ, King of kings and Lord and
lords. ~end quote~
So Trumpets pictures the return of Jesus Christ to earth to set up
His government and rule all nations with a rod of iron.
For the last couple of Trumpet Holy Days, we have been establishing and
reminding ourselves that Christ IS the trumpet. That is, He is
represented by the trumpet and all its tangent meanings throughout the
Bible…the voice of a trumpet, the horn of salvation, the horns on the
altar and the horn that held healing anointing oil to mention a few.
What I want to do this year is to take a look into the future that will
begin on the Day of Trumpets.
First the basics and then we will get into specifics.

All this is the basic information and we are familiar with the timeline.
Now lets go through the specifics. The reason for this is simply to
excite you and have you longing for the Kingdom.
Clearly some of what I say here will be under the heading of speculation
as we do not have a “thus saith the Lord” for everything I have on this
list, but most are here because of Spirit-driven logic.

Items I am pretty sure about |
Agrarian
culture----equal distribution of land for farming
Thomas Jefferson, the patron of American agrarianism, wrote in
his Notes on Virginia (1785), "Those who labor in the earth are
the chosen people of God.
Farming has a
spiritual dimension that generates many virtues, among them
self-reliance, moral integrity, and honor, because direct
contact with nature leads to a meaningful relationship with God.
|
Economy: One
based on mutual giving rather than profit.
World trade limited or non-existent.
|
Education:
Massively different and most direct from God through spirit
beings.
|
Craftsman
culture: Everything made by hand and built to last
indefinitely.
|
Goal of world: to
prepare for 2nd Resurrection.
|
Everyone in
Salvation Process
---spiritual maturity—turn to spirit
---fall away—lake of fire immediately.
|
Water, air, earth
and food pure and pollution free
|
Everything
provided by God including energy, resources and transportation.
|
All land reclaimed
for cultivation
|
All people healed |
So all this is just a glimpse into the Kingdom of God and what it will
be like that first thousand years that will begin on this day of
Trumpets.
I want to leave you with a thought on Trumpets as found in our doctrine
on the Holy Days and speaking to the Day of Trumpets…
”Tishri
I was considered by some Jewish commentators to be the beginning of
Creation—which would create a complete parallelism, since this shall be
fulfilled by the "Day of the Lord," the time of the Creator's physical
return to His creation as Jesus Christ, King of kings and Lord and
lords.”
Let us all be there on the First Day. |
