We have to put this subject of world population in perspective.  In light of mankind operating without God, I fully agree with you.  However the problem is not population but mankind operating without God.  I am doing this to show that the problem is not population but something else entirely.

All of the world's population could easily stand in the state of Vermont ---9615 sq. miles of which 9249 are land.  That would be each square mile holding 705,481 people or 39.5 square feet per person or a space roughly 6 feet by 6.5 feet.  Quite doable.  No two people would be touching each other.  Plenty of air to breathe.

Notice this another way.

*Total habitable land on Earth: 52,000,000 square miles

If the world population was evenly distributed over Earth's habitable land, how many people would live on each square mile of Earth? [The world population (6,525,000,000) divided by the number of habitable square miles of land (52,000,000) reveals that the total number of people per square mile would be approximately 125.]

 

How does that compare with the number of people per square mile in your state? the United States? other countries around the world? Here is some sample data for making comparisons...

 

According to about.com,

 

North America has 32 people per square mile
South America has 73 people per square mile
Europe has 134 people per square mile
Asia has 203 people per square mile
Africa has 65 people per square mile
Australia has 6.4 people per square mile

These are all reasonable figures.  This is a livable situation, at least on paper.  However we have a problem and it goes to the heart of mankind:

1] he has rejected God.
2] he does not know God [1 Corinthians 2:14]
3] Man's heart:  And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man. Mark 7:20-23

Though we have plenty of land and could be producing many time over the current crops, man is destroying himself.  Notice:

And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. ---Matthew 24:22

This is why Christ is returning to rule all nations.   Everyone will be brought into the Salvation Process.
 

Man's primary problem and the reason we have starvation in the world is greed.  Mankind is concerned only about gain and not good will.  Man spends all his money and time creating things that God would have given us freely and in abundance.  As we are coming to see on a global scale, man is going bankrupt trying to maintain the status quo.  He is doomed to failure.

Notice for a moment what God has in mind.  He is having His Son prepare the world for 1,000 years to get ready for a resurrection.  Some one-hundred billion [with a "b."] individuals will be resurrected into new physical bodies.  You believe we have a problem now; how do you figure how the planet will support more than fifteen times the current population and maybe more?

The surface of the Earth is 196,935,000 square miles but currently 70% of it  is saltwater.  Imagine the oceans being reduced some 90% or more.  Imagine the resulting land all being farmable.  Imagine the great mountain ranges being brought down in size.

God will provide everything in abundance:  food, clean water, clean air, healing, transportation, safety, and virtually everything man needs.  Notice:

HEALTH
All health restored and all wounds healed. Jer. 30:17
People will enjoy great health. Isa 58:8
Jesus Christ wipes away all tears. Rev. 7:17
The blind see and the deaf hear. Isa. 35:5
The crippled healed and the mute shall talk. Isa 35:6

 

THE LAND IS CHANGED
Land becomes like the garden of Eden. Ezek. 36:35
All the cities and waste places rebuilt. Ezek. 36:9-11   33-34
Israel shall blossom and bud. Isa. 27:6
Deserts will blossom as a rose. Isa 35:1, 6-7
Bumper crops and world full of fruit. Lev. 26:4-5   Isa. 27:6

 

PROSPERITY (ECONOMICS)
No more taxes; everyone tithes 10%. Mal. 3:8-10
Everyone experiences prosperity. Mal. 3:10

 

JUSTICE
The oppressed experience righteousness and justice. Ps. 103:6   97:2   Isa 33:22
Jesus Christ will give food to hungry and release all prisoners. Ps. 146:7

Widows and fatherless relieved. Ps. 146:9

 

ONE WORLD LANGUAGE
Jesus will teach everyone one pure language. Zeph. 3:9

ONE CHURCH
Sabbath kept by everyone. Isa. 66:23
Feast of Tabernacles kept every year by all nations. Zech. 14:16
God’s knowledge covers the earth. Isa 11:9
Church teaching ways of Jesus Christ. Micah 4:1-2, 5
Commandments kept by everyone. Rev. 21:7   22:14

There will be no wars, no crime, no sickness, no poverty, no greed, no secret societies, no conspiracies and no humans in government.  Remember when I talked above about how man has to spend all his money providing things that God would freely give to all of us?  See this graphically in the US Federal Budget from 2007:



We had approximately 2.24 trillion [with a "t."] dollars to work with.

22% to national defense--the military and security or $590 billion
21% to social security or $586 billion
21% to Medicare-Medicaid & SCHIP or $572 billion
9% to interest on the debt or $237 Billion
9% to safety net programs--mostly assistance to families and children or $254 billion.

Under the government of Jesus Christ, we can eliminate virtually 100% of that budget.  No nation will need anything near that much money to operate.  There will be no need for national defense, social security or medical/health programs.  There will be no need for massive assistance to poverty-stricken families and children and there will be no national debt.  God provides all this.  There is no old age in the thousand-year reign of Christ.  In fact there is no death or need for funeral homes and cemeteries.

 

So we see that it is not about population but about mankind rejecting God.  This is about to end.
