"Headquarters Just
Isn't Showing Any Leadership!"
MP3
Has there ever been a time in biblical or church history where this
charge has not been laid? Korah felt Moses lacked leadership.
Many at one time or another felt David lacked leadership. Judas
thought Jesus lacked leadership. Several in the church no doubt
felt Paul lacked leadership. The sentiment is hardly new.
What this usually means is that the leader or headquarters is not taking
action or doing what the person wants. We all have our internal
book of rules, value systems and a sense of what is just and right.
If these are not met, each and every one, we begin to see dents in the
armor of our leaders.
Let's put this in perspective. As a member of God's church, is
there EVER an instance when we can legitimately bring this charge?
What it comes down to is answering the simple question, "Is this God's
church or is it not?" This is the heart of the matter, isn't it?
For if this is God's Church, JESUS CHRIST IS THE LEADER, isn't He?
The one lamenting about lack of leadership, by his words is telling the
congregation that he has taken his eyes from the Kingdom and the very
power of God and is focusing on a mere human who happens to be occupying
an office in which God has set him. I am here to tell you that if
you put your focus on the human only, you will almost always have this
complaint. You are talking about a human who, just like you is a
lump of clay being molded by God in a lifelong transformation we call
the Salvation Process. Each is striving to obey God, overcome sin
and develop the mind of Christ. Until that very moment in which
they turn to spirit, they will not attain that perfection. There
will always be something one could point out as a weakness or flaw.
We must absolutely refrain from focusing on the human element in the
church, whether that be the minister, headquarters, the lady in charge
of potlucks or the deacon who puts up the chairs. This is NOT a
human church. It is a spiritual church led and guided by a host of
spiritual beings headed by Jesus Christ and God the Father. The
entire church is powered by the Holy Spirit in each of its human
members. We must keep in mind that each of those humans, along
with their shortcomings, frailties and weaknesses have been purchased
with the precious blood of Jesus Christ and are part of an intricate and
detailed plan of Salvation formulated long before the foundations of
this Earth were laid.
When one brings this charge, who is really being criticized? Isn't it
the throne of God itself? We are not talking about a charge of
unrepented sin in this human leader, just one who is not meeting our
self-established standards and values, regardless of how right those may
be. We must put our trust in and focus on God and the absolute
leader of this Church, Jesus Christ. He knows about all the
frailties and weaknesses and He is going to finish this Work with the
people God the Father has given Him despite those seemingly negative
elements.
Remember that everything is a process and that God is always in control.
Most of the trials God allows us to suffer is to bring us to this very
fact. Notice what Paul wrote and what we seem to constantly
forget...
1 Corinthians 1:26-31
26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after
the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the
wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the
things which are mighty;
28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God
chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that
are:
29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom,
and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in
the Lord.
This is God's Church. He created it. He peopled it. He
gave it its missions. He called the weak, the less than wise, the
base things and those who are despised TO DO GREAT THINGS despite all
those negative things. He will succeed. Continue to be a
part of this and glory in the Lord.
