Dumb Questions

As I sit here in the Web Site Office these last seven and
a half years [now almost 20 years], I have received tens of thousands of Bible questions,
inquiries about the church and questions which come under the heading of
ministerial counseling. Never have I received a "dumb" question.
One gentleman recently contacted me with a spiritual question.
After my reply, I believe he felt almost embarrassed, as the answer, to
some, would have seemed obvious. He wrote back to me lamenting that
he had wasted my time with a "dumb" question.
In writing back I assured him that in the Body of Christ, there is no
such thing as a dumb question. Therefore, feel free to submit your
questions. Often times, we BOTH learn something.
Are there "dumb" questions in
the Bible?
Sure there are and God made sure they were recorded, partly to let us
know that there are no dumb questions before Him.
John 3:3-4
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee,
Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be
born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's
womb, and be born?
John 6:48-52
48 I am that bread of life.
49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat
thereof, and not die.
51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of
this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my
flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying,
How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
In both cases we are dealing with deeply profound spiritual concepts.
Each began with the so-called dumb question. After learning the
truth of these two passages, would you still consider them dumb? I
would not.
So keep those questions coming!!
