Cole Cumming Tribute Page
This page is essentially what I have on Cole Cumming on Facebook and is for those who do not have Facebook and/or those not using it.

I lost Cole today [Tuesday]. He was something over 15 years old but his official birth date is 3 April 2000 and he died today, 5 August 2014. That figures out to 5,237 days or 14 years, 4 months and 2 days.

In cat years, Cole was about 72 years old and probably closer to 80 years. The doctor today said that Cole was older than the official record. His birth date was a guess by the Pet Shelter who originally took him in.

I got Cole on 29 April 2005. I had him for 3,385 days or 9 years, 3 months and 7 days. He died today at about 1:30 PM at a nearby animal hospital. I had my hands on him and he died purring. He was mine for about 65% of his whole life.

Cole was very healthy until about 4 months ago when he retreated to the master bedroom on the first floor [my bedroom]. In the last month he began losing weight though he was still eating and drinking.

In the last three weeks or so, he was beginning to resemble a bag of bones. He stopped eating about three days ago. I gave him today what would be his last bath and comb out. He dried out in the sun on the back patio.

At the prompting of my daughter, I took him to the animal hospital where they recommended we put Cole to sleep. Everyone there was very sympathetic and took me step-by-step through the process. They took Cole away to put in the tube to insert needles. They brought him back to me and I petting him and talked to him for a while. The doctor then came in with two needles. One put him in a drunk-like state, which lasted for about 40 seconds and then the lethal dose which took him in about one second. She then check to make sure he was dead and stated to me, “He is gone now.” I touched him and petting him and was absolutely sure he was still purring. His face was very peaceful.

The nurse came in and hugged me.

They will now cremate him and place the ashes into a cedar wood box with his name engraved into a gold plate affixed to the top of the box.

I left there and went to the top of Mount Charleston as a memorial to Cole.

Losing a pet, to me, if ever as much as losing a human family member.

Cole lived in Bellevue, Washington, Vancouver, Washington [7 years] and Las Vegas for 17 months. The photo on the left above was the advertisement made by the Pet Shelter in Bellevue where I found him...actually him finding me.

Today I "took" Cole with me to my favorite lounge at the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas. The piano player did a number in Cole's honor as staff members related to me the stories of the pets they have lost over the years.

A musical tribute to Cole Cumming
As I was taking Cole to the animal hospital where he died, I had a CD playing of piano selections by Whitney Phoenix Piano Maestro. The last piece Cole heard was, "On My Own" from Les Miserables. On the evening of 6 August I went to the Petrossian Lounge at the Bellagio Resort Hotel here in Las Vegas and had Mr. Phoenix play this piece as a memorial and in honor of Cole. — with Whitney Phoenix Piano Maestro at Bellagio Las Vegas.
