ANSWER
The references are found in Ezekiel, chapter 6 which says…
Ezekiel 6:1-14
1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2 Son of man, set thy face toward the mountains of Israel,
and prophesy against them,
3 And say, Ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the
Lord GOD; Thus saith the Lord GOD to the mountains, and to
the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys; Behold, I,
even I, will bring a sword upon you, and I will destroy your
high places.
4 And your altars shall be desolate, and your images shall
be broken: and I will cast down your slain men before your
idols.
5 And I will lay the dead carcases of the children of
Israel before their idols; and I will scatter your bones
round about your altars.
6 In all your dwellingplaces the cities shall be laid
waste, and the high places shall be desolate; that your
altars may be laid waste and made desolate, and your idols
may be broken and cease, and your images may be cut down,
and your works may be abolished.
7 And the slain shall fall in the midst of you, and ye
shall know that I am the LORD.
8 Yet will I leave a remnant, that ye may have some that
shall escape the sword among the nations, when ye shall be
scattered through the countries.
9 And they that escape of you shall remember me among the
nations whither they shall be carried captives, because I am
broken with their whorish heart, which hath departed from
me, and with their eyes, which go a whoring after their
idols: and they shall lothe themselves for the evils which
they have committed in all their abominations.
10 And they shall know that I am the LORD, and that I have
not said in vain that I would do this evil unto them.
11 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Smite with thine hand, and
stamp with thy foot, and say, Alas for all the evil
abominations of the house of Israel! for they shall fall by
the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence.
12 He that is far off shall die of the pestilence; and he
that is near shall fall by the sword; and he that remaineth
and is besieged shall die by the famine: thus will I
accomplish my fury upon them.
13 Then shall ye know that I am the LORD, when their slain
men shall be among their idols round about their altars,
upon every high hill, in all the tops of the mountains, and
under every green tree, and under every thick oak, the place
where they did offer sweet savour to all their idols.
14 So will I stretch out my hand upon them, and make the
land desolate, yea, more desolate than the wilderness toward
Diblath, in all their habitations: and they shall know that
I am the LORD.
The indication that Israel [US, Canada, Australia and the
United Kingdom] will die in thirds is found in the
wording of verses 11 and 12.
Also, the concept was derived from many of the descriptions
of the destruction of Israel and Jerusalem (Jerusalem is
typical of all Israel -- as in the case of Christ crying
over Jerusalem) found in many places in Lamentations: An
example: Lamentations 2:11-16,
Lamentations 2:11-16
11 Mine eyes do fail with tears, my bowels are troubled, my
liver is poured upon the earth, for the destruction of the
daughter of my people; because the children and the
sucklings swoon in the streets of the city.
12 They say to their mothers, Where is corn and wine? when
they swooned as the wounded in the streets of the city, when
their soul was poured out into their mothers' bosom.
13 What thing shall I take to witness for thee? what thing
shall I liken to thee, O daughter of Jerusalem? what shall I
equal to thee, that I may comfort thee, O virgin daughter of
Zion? for thy breach is great like the sea: who can heal
thee?
14 Thy prophets have seen vain and foolish things for thee:
and they have not discovered thine iniquity, to turn away
thy captivity; but have seen for thee false burdens and
causes of banishment.
15 All that pass by clap their hands at thee; they hiss and
wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, saying, Is this
the city that men call The perfection of beauty, The joy of
the whole earth?
16 All thine enemies have opened their mouth against thee:
they hiss and gnash the teeth: they say, We have swallowed
her up: certainly this is the day that we looked for; we
have found, we have seen it.
The verses that speak to the nation dying in thirds and the
astonishment of the world at the ease of our destruction are
found in Ezekiel 5. Let us begin in verse 7:
Ezekiel 5:7-17
7 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye multiplied
more than the nations that are round about you, and have not
walked in my statutes, neither have kept my judgments,
neither have done according to the judgments of the nations
that are round about you;
8 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I, even I, am
against thee, and will execute judgments in the midst of
thee in the sight of the nations.
9 And I will do in thee that which I have not done, and
whereunto I will not do any more the like, because of all
thine abominations.
10 Therefore the fathers shall eat the sons in the midst of
thee, and the sons shall eat their fathers; and I will
execute judgments in thee, and the whole remnant of thee
will I scatter into all the winds.
11 Wherefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD; Surely,
because thou hast defiled my sanctuary with all thy
detestable things, and with all thine abominations,
therefore will I also diminish thee; neither shall mine eye
spare, neither will I have any pity.
12 A third part of thee shall die with the pestilence, and
with famine shall they be consumed in the midst of thee: and
a third part shall fall by the sword round about thee; and I
will scatter a third part into all the winds, and I will
draw out a sword after them.
13 Thus shall mine anger be accomplished, and I will cause
my fury to rest upon them, and I will be comforted: and they
shall know that I the LORD have spoken it in my zeal, when I
have accomplished my fury in them.
14 Moreover I will make thee waste, and a reproach among
the nations that are round about thee, in the sight of all
that pass by.
15 So it shall be a reproach and a taunt, an instruction
and an astonishment unto the nations that are round about
thee, when I shall execute judgments in thee in anger and in
fury and in furious rebukes. I the LORD have spoken it.
16 When I shall send upon them the evil arrows of famine,
which shall be for their destruction, and which I will send
to destroy you: and I will increase the famine upon you, and
will break your staff of bread:
17 So will I send upon you famine and evil beasts, and they
shall bereave thee; and pestilence and blood shall pass
through thee; and I will bring the sword upon thee. I the
LORD have spoken it.
