SUBJECT: Satan
QUESTION: Where does one get the idea that Satan was the
murderer from the beginning? I do not read of him murdering
anyone.
ANSWER:
Here are the scriptures in question:
John 8:39-44
39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father.
Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye
would do the works of Abraham.
40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the
truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.
41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We
be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would
love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither
came I of myself, but he sent me.
43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye
cannot hear my word.
44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your
father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and
abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him.
When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a
liar, and the father of it.
Note: Clearly,
Jesus is saying that Satan was a murderer from the
beginning. Therefore it must be so. You need only
understand when it was that he (Satan) committed his first
murder.
At the moment that Satan influenced Adam to sin, he was
committing murder; the murder of Jesus Christ who would have
to come to earth in human form and die for those sins.
Clearly, Satan's aim and goal was to destroy both mankind
and the Plan of God. Satan then and now wants all of
mankind dead. He is willing to murder them when God allows
it. Read the opening chapter of Job where Satan was allowed
to kill all Job's children and his servants. Satan is a
murderer.
Now notice some scriptures that prove that Satan was both a
murderer from the beginning and a murder in general:
Genesis 3:3-7
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the
garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall
ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely
die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then
your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing
good and evil.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food,
and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be
desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and
did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did
eat.
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that
they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and
made themselves aprons.
Note: God said
the fruit of the tree would kill Adam and Eve. Satan told
them they would not die. They ate it and died. Imagine
someone giving you a bottle of poison. They tell you that
you should not drink of it lest you die. I come along and
tell you, "Hey, you can drink that stuff. You won't die."
You drink it and die. Am I a murderer? Ask any lawyer or
law enforcement individual.
1 Chronicles 21:1
And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to
number Israel.
Note: Remember
this story? David numbered Israel and many people died as a
result of going against God's wishes to not number Israel.
Start reading in verse 11 of that chapter. 70,000 people
died (verse 14).
James 4:1-7
1 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they
not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and
cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye
ask
not.3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye
may consume it upon your lusts.
4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the
friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever
therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
5 Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit
that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?
6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God
resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and
he will flee from you.
Note: These
verses speak of murder, lusts, wars, fightings and enmity
with God. Who is behind all that? Read verse
7 and you see that it is Satan.
1 Peter 5:8
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as
a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
Note: What does
"devour" mean? It means to: devour, drown, swallow (up). He
is looking to see whom he can keep from eternal life which
makes him a murderer again.
Revelation 13:6-8
And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to
blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell
in heaven.
7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and
to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds,
and tongues, and nations.
8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose
names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain
from the foundation of the world.
Note: See that?
Again, the word of God states that Satan was the murderer
from the beginning. Jesus was "slain from
the foundation of the world."
Revelation 20:7-9
7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be
loosed out of his prison,
8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the
four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them
together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the
sea.
9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and
compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved
city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and
devoured them.
Note: This takes
place in a 100 year period after the 1000 year reign of
Christ and after the Second Resurrection. Again, Satan will
murder people.
