SUBJECT:   Satan

QUESTIONS:  Should we be afraid of Satan?  What should we know about him?

ANSWER:

1)     Satan can do nothing without permission of God

Job 1:12

And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.

Job 2:4-7

4 And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.

5 But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face.

6 And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life.

7 So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown.

2)     Satan does have the power to tempt the saints (God’s called out ones)

1 Chronicles 21:1

And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel.

1 Thessalonians 3:5

For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.

3)     Satan has the desire to have the saints.

Luke 22:31

And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:

4)     The saints should resist (without fear)

James 4:7

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

1 Peter 5:9

Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

5)     Saints should arm themselves against Satan

Ephesians 6:11-18

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Notice:  Our faith in God, the Father and Christ is our shield that stops the fiery darts (attacks by) of the wicked (Satan).  Also notice the best time to pray:  After you are in full armor, this is the best time to pray.  All of this armor is Spiritual and you can put it on anytime with a thought.  God gives us this POWER in our lives.  This is God’s Spirit in us.

6)     Saints should be watchful regarding Satan

2 Corinthians 2:11

Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

7)     Saints can overcome him.

1 John 2:13

I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.

Revelation 12:10-11

10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Notice the first verse:  Saints overcome Satan by having a close relationship with God.  Fear is lessened and overcome knowing the power Christ has over Satan and we can use the name of Jesus Christ to stop Satan and his demons.  You can rebuke any evil thought which comes into your mind.  If you feel there is some situation in your life where Satan is causing some problem, rebuke him and rebuke the evil or wrong situation or attack.  Contact your minister is problems persist.

8)     We will have ultimate triumph over.

Romans 16:20
And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
