SUBJECT:  Word of God

QUESTION:  Just who can understand spiritual things?  Who can understand the Bible?

ANSWER:

The Word of God is Spirit and it takes Spirit to understand Spirit.

Ephesians 6:17

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

1 Corinthians 2:14-16

14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

Note:  The 'natural man' is one without the Holy Spirit as you can tell from the context.

1 John 2:20

But ye have an unction from the Holy One (Spirit), and ye know all things.

Note:  With the Holy Spirit we know all things of the Word of God.

This is why we do not try to convince anyone of anything.  We state our beliefs but we seek not to get other people to see things "our way".  It takes God to open a mind and to call a person to the fold (John 6:44).
