SUBJECT:
Clean and Unclean Meats
QUESTION: Should we ever eat organs of the clean
animals, such as liver, gizzards, tongue and such.
ANSWER:
Perhaps the answer is obtained from silence. Never recall
reading anywhere in Scriptures about lawful eating the
entrails or viscera. I know the Levites were allowed to take
of the meat and certain portions (sides,
shoulders) of the sacrifice. But again, no
mention of the organs. Consider the Passover Lamb - Eat the
flesh (meat). The
rest to be burnt, not to remain.
The physical or scientific logic would seem to be saying
that we avoid organ meats. We should avoid organ meats. In
the organs are the poisons and such. I don't believe it is
"kosher" to coin a phrase to do so. Why ingest poisons into
our body?
Even the meat should be cooked such that no blood is eaten.
This could indicate that the meat be well cooked [medium
to well-done]. We are not to eat the blood.
Regarding fish, same principle, I believe. Raw fish contains
many parasites. Fish should be smoked or cooked.
Before the flood mankind was vegetarian, herbivores. After
the flood, man's food included flesh (meat)
- clean of course. Perhaps with the introduction of meat,
came diseases if not eaten correctly.
