SUBJECT: Dry Bones of Ezekiel 37
QUESTION: What is the meaning of the dry bones? Who are
they?
ANSWER:
The "dry bones" are the "whole house of Israel," which means
those who are not of the 144,000 or the innumerable
multitude, but who are among the "rest of the dead" who live
not again until the 1,000 years are finished (Revelation
20:5).
Notice chapter 36. These chapters are in a chronological
sequence. The 36th shows the regathering and
rebuilding of physical Israel which remains alive (perhaps
10% of them) following the tribulation; how the "waste
places" are to be rebuilt. This is the millennium. The
37th chapter deals with the great white throne judgment.
David is literal. He will be king over all Israel
throughout the millennium, and obviously on into the future,
since His throne was a "perpetual" throne, and not limited
in time.
The symbolism of the "dry bones" shows they are DEAD prior
to the resurrection. Since they are shown to be physical
Israel, and not the church, they are obviously not a part of
the "firsfruits" unto the Lamb, but are, instead, a part of
the "rest of the dead" who lived not until the 1,000 years
were finished.
