SUBJECT: Comfort in Trials and Tribulations
QUESTION: Why is it that I have so many trials? What
comfort does God offer us?
ANSWER:
The following scriptures should give you some perspective
about what a true Christian must experience for being a
follower of Christ:
Acts 14:22
Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to
continue in the faith, and that we must through much
tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.
Note:
Satan and the world hate Christians. On top of that, God
allows tribulation in our lives (as
you can see from the verse) to test us and
confirm to us Godly principles (Galatians 5:22 23). Notice
the next verse.
Romans 5:3-8
3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also:
knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is
shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given
unto us.
6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ
died for the ungodly.
7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet
peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we
were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Note:
The tribulation we experience is part of a greater process
to prepare us for eternity in the Kingdom of God. For 70 or
so years, we prepare for trillions and trillions and endless
trillions of years in the Kingdom of God. It is worth the
battles we go through.
Romans 12:12-16
12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing
instant in prayer;
13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to
hospitality.
14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them
that weep.
16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high
things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in
your own conceits.
Note:
God gives us direction as we experience tribulation.
2 Corinthians 7:4
Great is my boldness of speech toward you, great is my
glorying of you: I am filled with comfort, I am exceeding
joyful in all our tribulation.
Note:
We are to have joy in all tribulation.
2 Corinthians 1:4
Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be
able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the
comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
Note:
God comforts us in our tribulation and we, in turn, comforts
others in theirs. The best way to take your focus off your
pain in tribulation is to focus on the comfort of others.
Romans 8:35-9:1
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall
tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or
nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day
long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors
through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor
angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present,
nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be
able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ
Jesus our Lord.
Note:
God gives us a promise that nothing can separate us from
coming through with flying colors. GOD IS FOR
US!!
Remember this:
1 Corinthians 10:13
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to
man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be
tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation
also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
Note:
God will not give us any trial or tribulation we cannot win.
James 5:11
Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of
the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that
the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
Psalm 124:7-8
Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the
fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.
8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and
earth.
Note:
God will always give us a way of escape.
