SUBJECT:  Christians in other churches

QUESTIONS:

1.    With the many denominations of Christians, who do the Catholics, Lutherans, Baptist, etc. worship?  Are they worshipping Jesus or are they worshipping Satan?

2.   Does God get angry at them because they attend services on Sunday and have made other days of worship other than the days in Lev.?

3.   Is it not possible that they worship the same God as you and love the same Jesus as you but for some reason God hasn’t opened their minds about the Sabbath?  (Assuming that it must be kept to honor God)

ANSWERS:

1)   It is not so much about what or who they worship as what they do not.  No one can fully worship God until He calls them and gives them truth.  Some 6,000 years ago, man walked away from or chose not to be with God.  In the meantime, God, carrying out His plan for mankind has called some people to invoke that plan.  The good news about the plan is that after the “time of man” He will allow every person that has ever lived to come to a full understanding of God, Christ and the word of God.

John 6:44-45

44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

Romans 8:29-30

29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

Notice that God thought ahead about who He would call to be the firstborn of many brethren.  The “many brethren” are the people you refer to plus all those that have never heard the name, “Jesus Christ”.

Also look at 1 Corinthians 1:9; 2 Thessalonians 2:13-14; 2 Timothy 1:9; Jude 1;  and Revelation 17:14

This leads us to the second part of your question…

2)  God does not get mad at people.  He hates sin.  He hates the things people do but He does not hate people.  He does not get mad because man worships the wrong things.  He knows that they are ignorant and without comprehension regarding His laws and principles.

1 Corinthians 1:20-21

20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

Proverbs 14:12

There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

1 Corinthians 3:19-20

19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.

Job 11:7-8

7 Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection?

8 It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what canst thou know?

Job 33:14

For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.

God understands that man cannot know Him without Him first calling them.  He is not happy with what man has done with His law, principles and even His planet but He is sending His son back to set things right.  At that time, every man and woman that has ever lived will be given all truth.  They will then each decide on what they will do.  Follow Christ and God or not.

3)  The simple answer to your third question is, “Yes”.  Many people have some truth.  The principles of God work whether God is working with our mind or not.  Principles are defined as undeniable truths against which there is no law.  Principles are also universally applicable.  Some principles are Love, Truth, Forgiveness, Peace, Honesty, and Goodness, “against which there is no law”…Galatians 5:23

God set up these principles to work automatically.  Many have discovered these principles and invoked them in their lives.  Many, even though they worship on the wrong day or keep doctrines strange to God, have done good works by invoking these principles.  Clearly, these people will have no problem embracing the whole truth when God opens their eyes later.

Add to this the fact that God is carrying out a plan here below.  You and I do not know everyone that He has called.  We do not know everyone that He imparts knowledge to.  We cannot just say that everyone professing to be a follower of Christ, is.  Many wolves have entered into the flock.

We have many instances of God working in the mind of a person to do good or to fear God.  Rahab, the harlot living in Jericho comes to mind.

Proverbs 20:11

Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.

Matthew 7:15-16

15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

Your question specifically asks, “Do they not worship the same (or real, true) God?”  I feel that they may know about Him and they may know about His laws and principles but the process is not complete until the actual implanting of the Spirit of God and the opening of the mind to receive the Word of God.

Ephesians 5:8-9

8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

We need God’s Spirit if we are to be fully righteous.

1 John 3:24

And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
