SUBJECT: Jesus Christ
QUESTION: Was He sent only to the Jews?
ANSWER:
Clearly, Christ was sent for all mankind including the
billions that would not be born until long after He had died
and been resurrected including the billions alive today.
The part about the Jews/Israel is referring to His 3 and 1/2
year ministry. His mission was to establish the church that
would serve all mankind (as far as that mission--spreading
the gospel is concerned). Remember that Paul was with Christ
and Christ sent Paul on his mission to the Gentiles and
therefore to the rest of the world.
In 3.5 years even Christ could only do so much. He did
enough. The facts are that He only conducted His ministry in
Israel. We do not read about Him in Rome, or Asia or Africa
during His ministry (except in brief excursions to avoid
crowds and/or to teach the 12). Though His ministry was in
Israel, His mission, His purpose for being here (on earth)
was for every living person including:
1) All those killed in the Great Flood.
2) All those who lived before His birth and ministry.
3) All those living on the Earth while He was alive and
conducting His ministry.
4) All those that have been born and lived since His death
including the almost 7 Billion alive right now.
Clearly when we look to the subject of the resurrections or
Revelation or the New Heaven and New Earth (The Kingdom of
God) we know that Christ came to this Earth to make it
possible for everyone to be in that Kingdom. Every Gentile
that ever lived has the same access to salvation as anyone
else.
Do not confuse His 3.5 year physical ministry with the
greater mission He had. Remember that He began the Work of
God and it continues to this day. The church He established
exists today and is doing that Work throughout the world. |
