SUBJECT: Bible
QUESTION: Why do you use the King James? I heard
there were errors in this translation and that other
translations might be better, such as the NIV.
ANSWER:
Clearly this is something that has been looked at in every
detail for the last 60 years or so.
Though we use and highly recommend the King James, we have
cross-referenced everything with other translations and the
original texts. We do this as normal procedure in all the
study we do.
QUESTION: Which is better to use for Bible Study,
the King James Version or the New International Version?
ANSWER:
The King James Version is a word-for-word translation. Other
translations, such as the New International Version (NIV),
are meaning-for-meaning translations. As George Kackos
rightly said in the July 1991 Plain Truth magazine, both
methods have their strengths and weaknesses. In using a
mixture of KJV and NIV in our family Bible Studies at home,
we have been shocked at some of the invalid interpretations
of the NIV. Instead of being easier to read for our
children, the NIV often is more difficult for children to
understand than the King James. The multitudes of modern
translations have not captured the elegance and beauty, nor
the overall accuracy of the King James Version.
C. S. Lewis sagely remarked, Odd the way the less the Bible
is read, the more it is translated. In spite of its
imperfections, the King James Version remains a masterpiece.
Believers should use the KJV for their main study Bible, and
other translations as secondary study aides.

Now besides this, there is a MAJOR factor we must always
consider. In no way does a true Christian (firstfruit)
rely just on the Word of God, in and of itself, even though
the Word of God IS SPIRIT. Coupled with the Word of God is
the Holy Spirit. One MUST have the Holy Spirit in them to
understand Spirit, which the Word of God is. How do we know
this? It is right in your Bible.
1 Corinthians 2:14
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit
of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he
know them, because they are spiritually discerned. ~KJV
1 Corinthians 2:14
But the man who isn't a Christian can't understand and can't
accept these thoughts from God, which the Holy Spirit
teaches us. They sound foolish to him because only those who
have the Holy Spirit within them can understand what the
Holy Spirit means. ~TLB
1 Corinthians 2:14
The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that
come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to
him, and he cannot understand them, because they are
spiritually discerned. ~NIV
1 Corinthians 2:14
The unspiritual man does not receive the gifts of the Spirit
of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to
understand them because they are spiritually discerned. ~RSV
It is clear in all 4 translations: One must have the Holy
Spirit in them to understand the Bible and to operate in the
Salvation Process
