SUBJECT: The 7,000-Year Plan
QUESTION: What is the Bible support of a 7,000 Year Plan
of God?
ANSWER:
From Garner Ted Armstrong…
There simply is NO "thus saith the Lord" about a "7,000
year plan." Generally, I think the weekly cycle IS a pattern
for the "6,000 years (a day
with God) allotted to man," and the 7th (day)
1,000 years for Christ's rule on earth, as my father taught
it. But by using WHICH CALENDAR? If we use the Hebrew
calendar, we are a very long way from the end of 6,000
years, and world events seem to indicate we are right on the
cusp (are we even 10 years
away)? of the Great Tribulation.
I am leery of using chronological models, after the debacle
of "19-year time cycles" and our elaborate charts about
1972-1975. I do not feel it is a matter of faith to "believe
in" the "7,000 year plan." Obviously, Christ's warnings
about "no man knoweth, but my Father only," and Paul's
admonition, "As for prophecies, they shall fail" would be of
no account, if, by using the correct calendar and modern
computers, one could determine within a matter of hours when
the 6,000 years expire. I will continue to rely most heavily
on the twin events of the "Abomination of desolation" and
"Jerusalem surrounded with armies."
